Nine-year-old Eleanor is off to summer camp for the first time.

“I hate camp. I just hate it. I wish I didn’t. But I do. Being here is worse than bug juice on a burger. Or homework on Thanksgiving. Or water seeping into my shoes.”

Before leaving, she wonders if her camp experience will be like her mother’s, and she studies her mother’s camp picture for clues. However, Eleanor finds camp to be a bit “like big juice on a burger” – something she doesn’t quite have a taste for, until she begins to see that maybe she isn’t the only one not loving camp. A good story about first times at camp and adjusting.
