A Storm Called Katrina
“When his family must leave their home for higher ground, Louis Daniel grabs his prized brass coronet and races out the door, not knowing what the coming days will bring.”
Louis Daniel is not afraid at first when Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans. But after the rains, the levees break and Louis Daniel and his family must flee their home as the flood waters rise, taking with them nothing but the clothes on their backs and Louis Daniel’s beloved coronet. They make their way to the Super Dome with many other refugees only to decide to stay in the city that they love. This is a timely tale of the devastation of Hurricane Katrina as seen through the eyes of a child. The author supports his story with factual information and a variety of sources for those curious about the toll of Katrina. Highly recommended.
