Reading, Rhyming and 'Rithmetic

The focus of this poem collection is school scenes. “One Hundred Words” is about an old fashioned poetry writing assignment, “True or False” is a funny story about possible cheating, “Heavy Reading” is about postponing homework, “Vanessa Eats Paste” about glue eating trouble, “Ollie's Escape” is about a class pet on the run, “Teacher-Creature” is about an alien disguised as a teacher, “New Kid in School” is about the problems of being a new student, “Saw My Teacher on a Saturday” is about the belief that teachers live in school, “Last” is about the student selection of a team, “I Before E Except ...” is about breaking rules and “My Doggy Ate My Homework” is about a phony homework story. These descriptions are only a selection of the available poems found in this book. The poems would be useful as readalouds, writing models or student performances. 31 pages Ages 5-8
