What isn't better when shared with a friend? Back in the 9th century somewhere in southern Germany, a monk penned an ode in Old Irish dedicated to his dear friend, his cat, Pangur.
This poem has been transported into our times. Delightfully a white cat pads the hallowed halls in search of his friend, the monk who is hard at his task translating great works. As the monk thinks deeply about the text before him, the cat playfully chases first a mouse and eventually a butterfly.
Each creature is to be celebrated in his endeavor. No need to compete with one another they simply live side by side each a master of his or her labors.
Beautiful depiction of medieval times. This would make a great lead in to teaching that era in the classroom.
