Marie Tharp went to 17 schools by the time she graduated from college with degrees in four subjects.  She started to work in science in 1955 at a time when people believed women were bad luck aboard a ship.  She was determined to work in her field and did not let the superstitions and limitations discourage her.

In this biography, Marie Tharp tells her story.  She eventually used her knowledge of geology and oceanographic cartography to invent a way to map the ocean floor.  Do you know her name?  Do you know the amazing contribution she made to science?  What an amazing role model.
