In an ordinary world on an ordinary day surrounded by ordinary black and white things, a child suddenly had an idea. This idea is new, different and unexpected. It reveals itself as a yellow egg with legs and a small golden crown.
What do you do with an idea wonders our child? Play with it? Feed it? What do ideas like to do? What do I like to do with an idea that is all mine?
For every human being who has held an idea of her or his own there can be doubt, denial and maybe even some minimizing. After all, the idea - your idea- is original and hasn't been thought of by "everyone" yet. Can it really be a good idea?
Read this to every child. Ask the wigglers to think of an idea they had yesterday. Ask the quiet ones to give you a hint about their idea. Expect the confident talkers to have a basket full of ideas to share enthusistically. Then, ask if anyone ever wondered if their idea was good enough. They don't have to tell it out loud just go ahead and let the in on the miracle- their idea just might, just might, well, I'll let you read the book and find out.
