Let Me Help! ¡Quiero ayudar!

Soon it will be Cinco de Mayo in San Antonio, so little Martita and her pet parrot want to help get ready for the fiesta. But no one seems to want Perico’s help – not making paper flowers to decorate the barge, not making delicious tamales for the feast, not practicing mariachi music.

“Let me help!” offers Perico, over and over. Even when he says it in Spanish, the busy family members shoo him away from bright hair ribbons, twirling folklorico dresses, and sweet pan dulce treats. Hmmm…what can the little parrot do to help with the celebration?

Vivid pastel illustrations complement the bilingual story (English on the left page of each spread and Spanish on the right page) that brings to life this colorful annual celebration along San Antonio’s famed Riverwalk.

Young listeners will delighted call out “Let me help! Let me help!” and -- ¡Quiero ayudar! ¡Quiero ayudar! – along with Perico throughout the book as he finally finds a way to help that only he can accomplish.
