Donovan's Big Day Donovan's Big Day

Donovan's Big Day

Wake up with Donovan and go through his big day, the day his Mommy and Mama get married. Written in rhyme, using simple language, the reader follows Donovan from waking up through the ceremony. Treating the event in a matter-of-fact manner, the audience is not aware of the homosexual content until the ending, when we see Donovan giving the rings to his Mommy and Mama, his very important duty of the day. The larger emphasis in the picture book is the getting ready and important task Donovan has been given, the role of ring bearer, and his impartial view of the important event in his life. With the growing attention paid to gay marriage this book will assist younger children in seeing that this is no different than a heterosexual marriage or remarriage.
