This is a story for both Chanukah and Christmas, which is one reason why I really like it.

Elijah is a woodcarver, an old man, and a Christian. Michael is his friend, nine years old and Jewish. They are even different colors. One day, Elijah gives a woodcarving to Michael as a gift. It is a carving of an angel, and it makes Michael afraid … afraid because it may not be acceptable to his parents. It might be a graven image that he’s bringing into a Jewish home.
