Alec Flint, though still in elementary school, is a super-sleuth. His father, Officer Flint, has been called to the American History Museum where he is to guard the Christopher Columbus exhibit which has suddenly gone missing. At school Alec's teacher disappears, and her closet is mysteriously locked. Alec sets out to solve the case and then finds himself caught up in the case of the Nina, the Pinta and the Vanishing Treasure.
