Fifteen-year-old Tristan is an orphan who has grown up in the St. Albans Abbey.One day the Knights Templar stop in at the Abbey and Sir Thomas decides to take Tristan for his squire. Almost instantly, Sir Hugh shows an intense dislike for Tristan. Off to war, Tristan will find himself caught up in a losing battle and Sir Thomas will send him off with the charge of taking the Holy Grail into safekeeping.
