Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be deaf? Well, Cece Bell, the author of this book, went through this her whole life. This book is in a graphic novel format. This book made me imagine what it would be like to be deaf. My favorite part is when Cece tries to lip read somebody, but it doesn’t go right! The girl sitting on the bleachers said “My Grandma May died.” Cece thought she said “My grandma makes pie.” Cece said “COOL!” This part got me laughing!☺If you read this book you can’t stop reading it. If there were 10 stars, I would rate this book all 10!☺ This book is one of the best books I have EVER read!

*********** Cece (a girl/rabbie) is starting a new school and this time she'll be the only one who is deaf. At her old school everyone was deaf so she wasn't the different one. She lost her hearing when she was four and now she's going to have to figure out how school works with a Phonic Ear. Is everyone going to stare at her? Will they treat her differently? Then, Cece figures out that her Phonic Ear lets her hear her teacher wherever she goes...into the bathroom...EWWW... into the teachers' lounge...hmmmm.... Suddenly, her deafness can become her superpower. The story is a wonderful blend of humor and resilience as we follow Cece through elementary school and get to peek into the world through Cece's eyes and ears. Filled with the energy of a lively, lovable girl who just happens to be deaf. A great read for all of us as we recognize that we're all different..and that's what makes the world so grand.
