Oh, first grade can be filled with angst so it's great when you discover you have a champion.

Caroline is a first grader.  She heads off to school one day for show and tell.  She brings the ukelele her grandfather brought her from Hawaii.  Other kids bring a sombrero,  a tiny pencil, a tadpole and one student, Chuck, brings a woodchuck.

Woodchuck turns out to be so cute and funny that the teacher says he can come back to school every day after that.  Lucky for Caroline that he is there because as the year goes along she has some tough moments.  Once on the playground her ears got so cold and suddenly Woodchuck was there with a hat.  Woodchuck notices a lot of times when Caroline could use some help.

Sometimes when you are a shy person, you need someone else to speak and act for you until you get comfortable enough and confident enough to feel safe and be able to be seen and heard.  Woodchuck is a very special critter with a big heart and lots of kindness to share.
