Poppy the Pirate Dog

A dog can light up an entire day, every member of a family, and most definitely a pirate ship.  Poppy is a dalmatian with a tendency for great enthusiasm and one day she tangles with a hat rack and finds herself sporting a pirate scarf.  Skull and crossbones suit Poppy and she feels she has found her true self.  She is a pirate at heart.

As the family sets forth for vacation, Poppy piles in the car and they all head toward the good times ahead.  Ahoy!  But as the boats and ships bob up, Poppy's enthusiasm begins to wane.  The bonnie ocean is fraught with peril.  There's water involved.  Poppy doesn't want to be splashed or tossed overboard.  She is ... dare we say it... afraid of boats.  How can she fulfill her pirate dream?

Humor lurks in every bright illustration as the family vacation floats by.   This is a family filled with hope, good humor and a cheerful outlook on life and on dogs who hate the ocean.  What a fun read happily divided into chapters.  Perfect for independent readers who want a fun book on an even keel.
