Wild Wings

"She rides the currents of air that curl like rapids over the mountains......She is coming."

Callum, Rob and Euan are charging through the woods on their bikes when they come upon Iona McNair lying flat on a rock and catching fish with her bare hands. "You're a thief," Rob shouts determined that this girl get nothing from his friend Callum's land. Iona has more treasure than just a stolen fish.

As days pass Callum's curiosity gets the better of him and he follows Iona out into the woods and together they discover a wonderful secret... a nest. There, hidden in the top of the trees, and sits an osprey, rare and protected. United in their determination to keep anyone from discovering the osprey's presence, Callum and Iona slowly begin to trust each other.

This is a story of the wonder of nature and the power of friendship. Callum will find himself faced with triumph and tragedy and some important choices as life takes him along on an eye-opening and touching journey. Set in Scotland the action takes place primarily in the wild and then offers up technology as a link to the mysteries of the wild as Callum tracks the migration of the osprey back to Scotland from deep in Africa.

Great story for kids who read with their hearts and for those who love the outdoors and those who need to make a place for nature in their own lives. Ages 9-13 288 pages
