Alchemyst (Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, Book 1)

Reviewed by Guest on March 24, 2009.

It begins as a normal day in the San Francisco area with Josh Newman working in the bookstore with Nick Fleming, and Josh's twin sister, Sophie, working across the street in a coffeehouse. Then, suddenly the world explodes as some dark characters enter the bookstore in pursuit of a very unique book. The book they are after is "The Book of Abraham," and it includes not only the secrets of alchemy and great wealth but also the secret to immortality. Who is Nick Fleming? He is the greatest alchemist who ever lived, Nicholas Fleming. The journey you are about to take will lead you, Josh, and Sophie into dimensions that you never suspected and will acquaint you with powers you never knew were possible. I loved it, and I'm not a big fantasy, sci-fi fan. This is the first of a trilogy.

This book captures more than your imagination... it captures your feeling that there is something bigger... something unseen... in our world... and it starts to give us a glimpse of what that something bigger might look like and how it might be operating in the world around us.
