History is broken, and three kids must travel back in time to set it right!

When best friends Dak Smyth and Sera Froste stumble upon the secret of time travel — a hand-held device known as the Infinity Ring — they're swept up in a centuries-long secret war for the fate of mankind. Recruited by the Hystorians, a secret society that dates back to Aristotle, the kids learn that history has gone disastrously off course.

Now it's up to Dak, Sera, and teenage Hystorian-in-training Riq to travel back in time to fix the Great Breaks...and to save Dak's missing parents while they're at it. First stop: Spain, 1492, where a sailor named Christopher Columbus is about to be thrown overboard in a deadly mutiny!

If you enjoy books like The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, then you are in for a real treat. Infinity Ring Book 1: A Mutiny in Time is the first book in a new time travel series. There will be seven books in total, with books one and seven written by James Dashner. The series will be released over the next two years with the last book being released in 2014. Similar to The 39 Clues series, there is a website filled with all sorts of fun online adventures to accompany the books. The website also contains historical information about several different and exciting places all over the world that were visited by the main characters in the book.

The two main characters are Dak and Sera, a quick thinking and intelligent duo who will appeal to both boys and girls. Early in the book, Sera and Dak come across the Infinity Ring, a ring that makes time travel possible. As a result, they become a part of a hidden war between the Hystorians, a secret society trying to keep history on course, and the SQ, an evil group trying to change it. Dak and Sera team up with the Hystorians, utilizing the ring to travel back in time in order to fix monumental historical events that went radically wrong, all while also attempting to rescue Dak’s missing parents, who have become lost in the time travel.

This book series has certainly begun with a bang. Like any breathtaking drama does, it pulls you in and leaves you wanting more of the exciting adventures of Dak and Sera.Book One ended with many questions unanswered, and I am counting down the days until Book Two comes out this November. It will be fascinating too see how the second author, Carrie Ryan, steps up to the plate and answers those nail-biting cliff hangers.

Only Dak would be so excited about a field trip to the Smithsonian.  He and his good friend, Sera, two geniuses, are filing off the bus headed in to see the exhibits and they have no idea that they are two hours and forty-seven minutes away from the earthquake that just might kill them.

Earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanoes are threatening the entire planet.  Not only is the climate going haywire, but the SQ have risen into power and are now watching every move.

When Dak's parents go away and forget to lock up the key to their lab, Dak and Sera are thrilled.  This is their chance to find out what the big secret project is.  Dak wanders while Sera unravels the clues to the puzzle and finally turns to Dak to tell him she has found the Infinity Ring and knows how to use it to time travel.

Sera's discovery launches the two through a wormhole in time and unleashes the dark forces of the SQ who are determined to hold onto their power. They like things just the way they are and no one, especially not some kid geniuses, are going to ruin their plans.  They don't mind killing anyone who gets in their way.

As Dak and Sera travel through time they discover that history is broken.  Their first challenge is to join the crew on the ship with Christopher Columbus to keep him from being thrown overboard.  But the SG are quite happy with things just as they are and Sera and Dak are going to find themselves up against some powerful dark forces as they try to change the course of history back to what they know to be true.  They will take on the Great Breaks and search for ways to mend them to send history back on its rightful course.

Catapaulted through history, Dak and Sera have just one task.  They have to save the world.
