Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Charlie Buckett used to live in a small, rickety old cottage with mother, father and his four grandparents who never left their bed. There was never anything to eat in the house except for small servings of cabbage and potatoes, leaving everyone with mighty rumbles in their stomachs. Every year, the family saved up just enough money to buy Charlie a Willy Wonka chocolate bar for his birthday. Charlie loved the bar so much that he would only nibble on it, making it last for months and months.

Five children found the golden ticket that would get them into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory: Veruca Salt, the girl who gets everything she has ever wanted; August Gloop, the boy who eats far too many sweets; Violet Beauregarde, the girl who chews gum all day long; Mike Teavee, the television addict; and Charlie Bucket, the humble boy who has absolutely nothing. The five children are invited into Willy Wonka's secret factory to discover some of his best kept secrets.

Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory is opening at last! But only five lucky children will be allowed inside. And the winners are: Augustus Gloop, an enormously fat boy whose hobby is eating; Veruca Salt, a spoiled-rotten brat whose parents are wrapped around her little finger; Violet Beauregarde, a dim-witted gum-chewer with the fastest jaws around; Mike Teavee, a toy pistol-toting gangster-in-training who is obsessed with television; and Charlie Bucket, Our Hero, a boy who is honest and kind, brave and true, and good and ready for the wildest time of his life!---from the publisher

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a great book and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys; mystery; fiction; excitement; and fantasy. I read this book becasue Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors of all time. And after reading some of his other books, such as Matilda or The Twits I was really excited to read this book. Of course I would recommend reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elavator after you finish but, we aren't here to talk about that book, we are here to talk about this book. Anyway, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a very great book and if you want to know more.....read the book! :)
